A Message From Our Principal

Welcome to Coconut Palm K-8 Academy, home of the Bengals! Where we are beginning a “Legacy of Excellence.” As you visit our website please take a few moments and allow us to share information about our school, our students, and the amazing things that are happening here. Not only will you find details about our school, you will also find maps, calendars, our monthly newsletters, and teachers’ emails and websites. Much thought and hard work has gone into ensuring that the information on our website is functional. We want this information to be useful in communicating with us as we work together in guiding the educational process for every child.

Coconut Palm K-8 Academy is located in a rapidly growing community, the school is surrounded by new residential communities embedded within an older agriculturally zoned community. There are thriving new businesses amongst many agribusinesses as well as an exotic fish farm, all which have existed for decades. Many of the businesses have committed to supporting the school’s Agriscience and Medical Biotechnology Program. These businesses have are ready to assist in making our school the best. The staff's enthusiasm sets the pace with high expectations for all students in nurturing classrooms with caring teachers. Utilizing a researched based curriculum and working collaboratively with the community and parents, the school is committed to developing and implementing rigorous and challenging academic programs. Together, we are building a Legacy of Excellence.

Taken from the 2002 philosophy of “No Child Left Behind Act,” The children of Coconut Palm are truly the nucleus of everything we do. The caring faculty and support staff are dedicated and committed to excellence. They work diligently at preparing each and every student for academic success. From teachers to cafeteria workers, custodians, etc. everyone is a small piece of the blueprint designed to construct and build a solid foundation of educational excellence. By recognizing individuality and the needs of each child, we are respectfully giving each child the building blocks to grow beyond 21st century challenges.

We are a school of approximately 900 students. The school’s composition consists of grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. We will add grade 7 in the year 2009-2010 and in 2010-2011 grade 8 will be added. Our core curriculum reflects the Florida Sunshine State Standards and district standards. We believe that children can learn and that each one should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential. As evidenced in our School Improvement Plan, we believe in:

Parent Involvement is the Key!! Parents are the first, last and most important teacher in a child’s life. At CPA we welcome and encourage parental involvement. Research shows that student success is linked to high parental involvement. Parents are viewed as partners with our teachers and administrators in educating the children.
